Smith A Copeland, late Spode, Commemorative blue pottery dessert Plate with the brown printed portrait of Albert Smith in the centre. diameter 23cms. An example of this very rare piece of  Mont Blanc 'Smithiania' 60, New Bond Street, London. [1870]   with sepia portrait of Albert Smith in the centre, surrounded by blue and white decoration. Provenance: By descent from Albert Smith's sister Laura Eady  in excellent condition.

Limited Edition especially bound by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, but this is NOT a numbered (of 20 copies) copy, nor signed by John Hunt and Edmund Hillary as usual. In original publishers de-luxe binding in blue half morocco and cloth. raised spine bands and gilt dec. panels. t.e.g. head and tailpiece with marbled e.p.'s This unique copy being, presumably, an extra copy bound should one of the 20 be spoiled? It does have the ink signatures of John Hunt Leader EVEREST 1953, Edmund Hillary 11/7/53 and Tenzing 7 7 53 all loosely inserted to make it even more desirable as the only such one existing!  Fine-
