The Ascent of Mont Blanc. From sketches by John McGregor published about 1856 by
George Baxter, described in 1860 as “from drawings made actually on the spot by a
recent traveller.” Originally sold at 1s. 6d. This rare set on original mounts with
the titles in Baxter’s stamped impress. A print having on its mount Baxter’s embossed
seal, surmounted by a crown, and giving his name and Northampton Square address,
is undoubtedly true Baxter work, and so more valuable than an unmounted and unstamped
print, though in itself may not be a better impression. George Baxter(Colour Printer)
