The early colour printing is reflected in obvious, but slight, out of register of the grey colour used in the sky.

The most rare of all Alpine books. Very few copies were originally published in Geneva and only only 3 are known to exist. The original aquatint and lithograph plates were skilfully coloured by hand, accompanied by text descriptions of the route from Geneva to Chamonix. This facsimile edition offers the original French text, with an English translation to accompany each of the 18 colour full page illustrations. £35 (€45) + post.
